Sunday starts slowly here. While one of them is still asleep in the blue bedroom, under the old plaster cornice that stayed in place so the flat would remember the century it came from, the other is already in the kitchen. Coffee comes to a boil; a Mediterranean breakfast, the kind that stretches across half the day, appears on the metal island. Joy weaves underfoot: his bowls slide out from the base of the coral shelving, because where every centimeter counts, the dog's place was thought through as carefully as everything else. Chestnut is blooming in the windows, and at this hour the sky-colored ceiling gives back a real midday summer.

Two of them, both just past thirty. People come to visit and then don't want to leave. So half the flat is given to hospitality: a sofa wide enough to sprawl five across, a coffee table with cheese and wine, vinyl waiting its turn on the turntable. The other half solves a harder problem — fitting a whole life for two into 54 square meters of an old Kyiv building near the Golden Gate without ever letting the squeeze be felt. So everything here is worked out: a separate laundry with a stacked washer and dryer, a full wardrobe behind a slatted screen, a corner to work from home, and so much hidden storage that not a single brush is left in sight. The pink block dividing the living room does the work of three: a countertop with a lamp on top, a bookshelf on the side, open cubbies for shoes below.

Color does the work of a floor plan here. It divides zones without a single wall, lifts the ceiling, switches on a mood the moment the door opens. They asked for "dopamine" — for home to feel glad every day, the way good food does. Interiors usually keep to three tones; here a whole kaleidoscope comes together — coral ribs of the shelving, blue velvet chairs, the metal sheen of the kitchen island, the pink glow of evening light. Above it all, a ceiling the color of sky: a midday summer by day, neon by evening. All these colors hold together like a single chord.

As the day tips toward evening, the flat begins another life. On the screen, the ocean gives way to a night city; pink light flares; vinyl finally drops onto the disc. The same room where they drank coffee in the morning becomes a club for two. Later, when the bedroom light goes out, a shadow surfaces on the ribbed wardrobe screen: someone is dancing, and the silhouette falls right across the doors — the flat saying for its owners what they leave unspoken about themselves. Joy is already asleep, curled on the blue throw. He's happy here, and that is probably the most honest review a home can get.

One of them came up with the name, KvırHata, almost as a joke. It stuck because it's exact. A queer home — one that resonates with the modern world and at the same time holds on to its roots; ultra-contemporary and warm down to the last cornice. A home where you can see what's loved: each other, friends, the dog, life itself.
