The boutique sits on the promenade by St. Sophia of Kyiv — the strongest address in the city. Its owner has spent years shaping men's style in Ukraine, working with each client in person. St. Sophia's Square sets a mood before you reach the door. We wanted someone who has just walked past the Cathedral to step inside and feel the same thing, only in another key. The space carries the emotion of the square further in.
Бутік стоїть на променаді біля Софії Київської — це одна із найсильніших локацій міста. Його власник багато років формує чоловічий стиль в Україні, працюючи з кожним клієнтом особисто. Софійська площа задає настрій ще до входу. Ми хотіли, щоб людина, яка щойно пройшла повз Собор, зайшла всередину — і відчула те саме, тільки інакше, більш приватно.
At the heart of the space is a tribune — a cascade of steps rising like an amphitheatre. On each step sits a seat, and on the seat stands a shoe. Amphitheatres were built for watching the stronger ones compete. Men's culture holds to the contest, and to winning it. So we built a champion's hall: a space of the summit, where you stand as if on the Olympus of achievement.
Серце простору — амфитеатр. Каскад сходинок, що піднімається вгору, як трабуна. На кожній сходинці — "сідушка", на ній стоїть взуття. Амфітеатр історично був місцем, з якого дивляться на гру сильніших. Чоловіча культура тримається на змаганні і на перемозі в ньому. Звідси наша ідея: зал чемпіона, простір вершини, де людина опиняється ніби на Олімпі досягнень.
The name is METCH. It speaks of an exact hit — a piece and a person landing on the bullseye together. Read it again and you hear "match": male energy, the game, the contest, the win. METCH is also a community, a club of men who gather around shared goals.
METCH — про точне попадання, коли річ і людина ідеально пасують один до одному. Прочитати інакше — і чути «матч»: чоловіча енергія, гра, змагання, перемога. METCH — це ще й спільнота, клуб чоловіків, які збираються навколо спільних цілей.
A second hall hides behind the first. Deep red, dark materials, low light — a closed boudoir. You reach it from the back courtyard: a private territory, a parked car, and the client is met inside. It is, in effect, the largest fitting room in Ukraine. Here style is worked out one to one, calmly and in full privacy.
Другий зал ховається за першим. Глибокий червоний колір, темні матеріали, приглушене світло — закритий будуар. Сюди потрапляють із заднього двору: закрита територія, припаркована автівка, і клієнта зустрічають уже всередині. По суті це найбільша примірювальна кімната в Україні. Тут зі стилем працюють один на один, спокійно і без чужих очей.
In this hall time slows down. You can sit, rest, have a drink — guests are looked after. While a piece is being chosen, the client lives in the space at their own pace. People come here for clothes found nowhere else in Ukraine, and for the feeling of belonging to a circle of their own.
У цьому залі час сповільнюється. Можна сісти, відпочити, випити щось — тут пригощають. Поки підбирають річ, клієнт живе у просторі у власному темпі. Сюди приходять по одяг, якого більше ніде в Україні не знайдеш, і по відчуття належності до кола своїх.
Here every fitting is a small match, and you walk out the champion.
Тут кожна примірка — маленький матч, із якого ти виходиш чемпіоном.
